NEORH December news and notes

 

The NEORH Board of Governors met in December and scheduled 2008 Managers Meetings at the Roy Hobbs office as follows:

  • Tuesday, February 5 – Open (28+) Division;
  • Wednesday, February 6 – Veterans (38+) Division;
  • Thursday, February 7 – Masters (48+) & Legends (55+) Divisions;
  • Monday, February 11 – AAA (18+) Division.

 

A 2008 Calendar has been started; additional dates will be filled in by Mid-January.

 

Other business/decisions at the December meeting included:

  • Fee structure will remain essentially the same for 2008;
  • The Masters Division schedule will be moved back a couple of weeks to stagger playoffs and avoid conflicts at the end of the season; 
  • 2008 season tentative start dates are as follows:

1.    Open & Veterans:  April 19-20

2.    Masters:  May 3-4

3.    Legends:  May 17-18

4.    AAA:  May 24-25

  • Plan to post team rosters on line;
  • Safety rules regarding contact at bases & home plate will be clarified;
  • Roy Hobbs Shootout rules for tied games may be modified slightly;
  • Plans implemented to upgrade field maintenance equipment;
  • Plans to upgrade field conditions at Sisler Field and Erie Island discussed but must be cleared with field owners;
  • Redesign of NEO Roy Hobbs website will be completed by the end of January;
  • Challenger Little League Exhibitions will continue;
  • Father-Son game will continue;
  • Open vs. Veterans All-Star game will be repeated, plus Masters-Legends & AAA All Star games.  All-Star games will be held on Labor Day weekend Saturday;
  • ID Badges, similar to those used at the Roy Hobbs World Series, are under consideration;
  • The Buckeye Baseball 18+ Baseball State Championship Tournament will be held in Summit County in August, with NEORH AAA and Greater Akron AA leagues acting as the host.
